Samantha Mohr
In her first pageant, at the advice of an acquaintance of UGA students, Mohr won the Miss Columbus 1985 title. This win meant that Mohr became eligible for her place in the Miss Georgia pageant which was held in June of 1985. Mohr claimed the crown on Saturday, June 22, 1985. Mohr was awarded more than $3500 in scholarships as well as other prizes at the national pageant. Her activities as Miss Georgia included appearances in public areas throughout Georgia. Mohr participated as Georgia at Miss America 1986 in Atlantic City (New Jersey) in September of 1985. Mohr stood a chance of 22 to 1 in winning the Miss America title. Computer simulations proved accurate in predicting Susan Akin's success. Mohr did not appear on The Top 10 list for national crown. Mohr's reign in the role of Miss Georgia lasted until she named her successor, Marlesa Ball, Miss Georgia 1986 on June 28th in 1986.
